Our text files were a mix of Windows encoding and Unix encoding for the line endings. While I think the Windows approach is silly, it's also more widely supported (i.e. by Notepad.exe). I've now fixed this for consistency.

This may affect other files (source code?) as well but I'll fix that if/when I see it.
